Online First Aid Certification

At Summit Response Training Solutions, employees needed American Red Cross First Aid certification but were unable to attend a traditional four-day, in-person course due to demanding work schedules.

As the Lead Instructional Designer, I managed the end-to-end design and development of each course. I conducted needs analyses to identify performance gaps, defined learning objectives, and selected instructional strategies aligned with learner needs and organizational goals. I developed eLearning content and supporting materials, collaborated with stakeholders throughout the process, and evaluated training effectiveness to ensure measurable performance outcomes.

As the Lead Instructional Designer, I led the full design and development process, from needs analysis and instructional strategy to content creation and evaluation, making sure each course met the learners' needs and delivered measurable results.

I designed and developed a flexible, self-paced online course using Moodle that allowed learners to complete training during scheduled breaks.
The solution included:
• Modular eLearning lessons aligned with American Red Cross standards
• Interactive knowledge checks and scenario-based activities
• Mobile-friendly access for learning on the go
This approach ensured learners could engage with the material in short, manageable sessions without disrupting their work responsibilities.

After completing the course, learners are able to:
• Assess and respond to common first aid emergencies
• Perform appropriate first aid techniques for adult injuries and illnesses
• Make timely decisions in high-pressure situations

By removing time and scheduling barriers, this solution increased training accessibility and completion rates.

Performance was measured through course completion data and assessment scores, with results showing:
• Increased learner engagement
• Higher completion rates compared to traditional formats
• Improved confidence in responding to real-world emergencies
